Village East neighborhood residents are fed up with illegal business operations near their homes.

"Those houses are real close together, and it's dangerous to do these things so near to other homes.

Steve Vassallo, Terrebonne Economic Development Authority CEO, said he's never heard a complaint about difficulty getting a small business permit, so no one should feel the need to operate illegally.

"I understand that this is the policy, but I'm not OK with it.

"I couldn't believe a guy was doing this right out in the open in his driveway," Navy said.

Navy said after receiving calls from residents, he visited the area to see for himself.

"As long since there isn't a constant flow of traffic in a residential area that neighbors complain about, then there usually isn't a huge problem with home businesses," Vassallo said.
