The dreams of a disabled Triangle man and his family were fulfilled April 20.

Lloyd, 22, suffers from status epilepsy, spina bifida and Arnold-Chari malformation, a blockage of the brain, according to his mother, Mary Lloyd.

The procedure, Ventriculoperitoneal shunting, involves drilling into the skull to relieve excess pressure from fluid on the brain, according to the U.

"The gutters were falling off, windows were broken, bricks fell off of the home and the foundation was shifted," Mansour said.

Lloyd attributed the shifted foundation and fallen bricks to the August earthquake.

Mansour's team sprang into action by donating a new roof, windows, masonry and an HVAC system -- a $40,000 renovation, he said.

"The bathroom I have is tiny," Lloyd said.

Mansour said the crew's act of helping the Lloyd family was very fulfilling and changed the life of a man who he believed deserved it.

"In the first 14 days of his life, he had 14 operations," Lloyd said. National Library of Medicine.

Though Lloyd could not provide a total of her son's medical bills over the years, she said it was very high.
