Students in charity challenge cook
Catering students have been giving the tough challenge of cooking a tasty and nutritious meal for less than £1. The winners of the event were Ben Dyson and Aaron Wiltshire, who are both on the level one diploma course in hospitality and cooking. Anne Wood, who teaches the level one catering students at the college, said: "So many ideas and interesting dishes for only £1 were submitted to me. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges including chef Aaron Latham and Catherine Garsed and Nick Thorley, from Christian Aid's East Midlands office. "It was really hard to whittle it down to five of the very best entries for the cook-off. The Ready, Steady, Cook-style competition took place at the college's Freemen's Common campus, in Leicester, last week with five pairs of chefs taking part. They cooked a vegetable frittata with tomato coulis and won a set of cookery books. |
