The German dolphin and whale protection organization ProWal is leading the protest, shaming and calling the facility in Kas the "worst dolphinarium in the world. "It isn't surprising that, already, some of these freedom-loving animals have died in this tiny cage. The dolphinarium in Kas is a small, rusty wire cage that was installed in a bay near the isthmus of the Çukurbag Peninsula. This promise was broken, four dolphins were transported in a vegetable truck from a small dolphinarium in Bodrum to Kas, in a cloak-and-dagger operation. Sea mammals would never again be imprisoned and exploited in Kas for commercial purposes. In co-operation with Turkish animal welfare carers and, hopefully, also with the responsible authorities, we will make every effort to close this dolphin prison forever," he added. |
