You've done what you can to keep those annoying pests off your property and out of your property, but there they remain.

Follow the directions carefully and avoid spilling, spraying or splashing the pesticide on your clothing.

"We don't use the word 'safe' in the pest control industry. But as far as safe, if you spill a copious amount of it or misapply, you can have some bad effects from pesticide applications," he said. "When it's in the individual's hands and they start spraying at random, that can be causing more harm than good with these applications.

Glaze said Arab's keystone service is a quarterly application of pesticides, since most are designed to last for three months.

"Most pesticides today are designed to last over a 90-day period.

There are plenty of precautions that go along with using at-home pesticides.

Some of the warnings on the label may include notice that the user is legally responsible for any damage due to misuse of pesticides, which extends to effects caused by drift, run-off or residues. Storage also is important.

Keep the pesticides in their original containers, and make certain empty containers can't be reached by children or animals.

"Unfortunately, a lot of people don't read the labels when they pick up this sort of merchandise. "So many times, especially with pesticides, THEY CAN} be dangerous to use if they're in the wrong hands. I'm not certain how they're allowed to do that, but most pesticides would be nice and active over that 90-day period," he said.

Most pest control companies, Arab included, guarantee their work, where they'll offer a complimentary service if needed at no additional charge to the consumer.

"You've got amounts of the pesticides, and you've got to find some place to keep it out of the way of children and pets," he said.
