Final spring landscape class coming soon
Debbie Myers has a general interest in gardening, but she wanted to landscape her own yard. For Myers, the idea of the classes including so many parts of landscaping was appealing. "There is a section on specialized designs such as private and public gardens and parks and the differing needs of both," Kirkland added. "The classes have made me more familiar with landscaping," Myers said. I have a much better understanding of what works and what doesn't work and why. It also gets into site plans, structures, accessories and maintenance. "Anyone can take the classes," Kirkland said. The final class, offered through the Augusta Council of Garden Clubs, will be May 4-5 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Wheeler Road in Augusta, said ACGC President Judy Kirkland. Myers said she was able to not only learn how to apply the principles to her own yard, but was also exposed to how the process and principles are applied on a larger scale at places such as public parks in large cities. "I like how the classes touch on anything from the design process and basic principles of design to the history and development of landscaping over the years," she said. While this is the final class locally in a lecture series of four courses, Kirkland noted that there are various other locations throughout the state that supply the classes. |
