Animal welfare group seeks magazine sponsors

A local animal welfare group is looking for sponsors to supply magazine subscriptions to area classrooms for the upcoming school year.

"I think the kids really appreciate and enjoy it," Farmer said.

For the past eight years, A Voice For Animals has provided subscriptions of Kind News magazine to local elementary school classrooms, and they're looking for additional sponsors this year, said Michele Farmer, treasurer of A Voice For Animals.

The magazine is published five times throughout the school year at three different reading levels, she said.

Last year, A Voice For Animals provided about 260 classrooms with the magazine, and they're hoping to reach more this year, said Danita Reese, a volunteer and board member for the organization.

"Children, I think, are naturally drawn to animals," Farmer said.

"We're desperate for more sponsors," Reese said.
