Expectations Run High For Chili Festival Fundraiser

The fifth annual Chili Festival sponsored by the Clarkstown Education Foundation brings eight local restaurants, caterers and a group of Rockland BOCES Culinary Arts students together in a chili cook-off on Saturday.

Brenner said they have bigger plans in the making for next year. A SmartBoard will be on display.

"We will have students from our schools performing musical numbers vocally and instrumentally," said the superintendent. Those buying raffle tickets get chances to win a Kindle Fire, Kindle Reader, X360 with Kinect, iPod Touch and iPod Nano with watchband.

The festival includes carnival games in the gym for kids and a guest appearance by the Rockland Boulders' mascot, which will pass out giveaways.

"This year I'd like to shoot for 700," he said, adding there are numerous reasons to attend.

Admission is $5 for children, $10 for adult and $25 per family. Boulder Bird will appear from 6:30 p.

In addition to the hot and spicy, there can be a sweet side to Saturday evening's family friendly event at the Felix Festa Middle School.

Brenner said the first and foremost reason to go is if you like chili followed by the fact that it is a fundraiser for scholarships and grants and thirdly it can be a family-oriented event.

The foundation is a not-for-profit group that raises money and gives it to the students in the Clarkstown Central School District in the form of educational enhancements. to 8:30 p.   Foundation Vice President Dorie McMaster said the festival has grown in popularity over the years and gives parents a chance to speak with other parents while their kids who get to run around and are supervised. and ends at 9 p.
