Bansley's certified Animal Welfare Approved

Bansley's Berkshire Ridge pigs of Osceola have been certified as Animal Welfare Approved by the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

After years of working for a confinement hog operation, Sean Bansley and his wife Carol began raising Berkshire pigs in what they describe as "the right way" in 2009.

The Bansleys' pastured pigs give birth and live outdoors on their 40 acres of pasture instead of conventional hog operations.

Animal Welfare Approved Program Director Andrew Gunther says, "The accountability and integrity offered by Animal Welfare Approved farmers like Carol and Sean are unmatched in food production.

The Bansleys, who are originally from Illinois, return to the state regularly and deliver their pork not only to clients in Iowa, but to the Chicago area as well.
