Parks Dept. offers plots for rent in community garden

PADUCAH - If you want to have a garden this year, but just do not have the room, Paducah Parks may have a solution. Community Garden applications will be available until all plots are rented. The Community Garden will be available for renters through October 31.

This is the third year for the Parks Department to offer a community garden for the public.

The Community Garden is based in the open field at the corner of 14th and Madison Streets. Water is accessible at the site, and the garden is gated to keep out small animals. The dimensions of each plot are approximately 12 feet by 8 feet. A specific plot or plots may be chosen as soon as the fee payment is made. As his Eagle project to get the highest honor awarded in Boy Scouting as Eagle Scout, Matthew Rea, a member of Boy Scout Troop 7, worked with the Parks Department to expand the Community Garden. The project doubled the size of the garden from 20 plots to 40 plots.
