It's no longer a question of whether to have a tattoo or not, but where the tattoo is, and what it says about the wearer.

But why have a tattoo where it won't be seen and admired by all and sundry? Millicent says while she would love her pieces to be admired, they were inked with a purpose.

While some celebrities go easy on using their bodies as pieces of canvas, others portray little conservatism.

In Kenya, it is increasingly becoming a tough call to look street and fashionable if you don't have a tattoo or an ear stud in an era when even the best behaved and high in society wear studs, ponies and have body piercing.

"The others are private and mean a lot to me personally, but this one on the arm is just a way of me telling the world how beautifully enhanced I am with it," she says.

Pop dancer Millicent Yegon, a member of Toxic dancing crew admits to having inked a bouquet of flowers on her bottoms all arsed out! An action she says signifies her love for flowers and a reward for her better half to admire 'in the nude'.

The Neptune's headman and rapper Pharell had his tattoos removed in an expensive and painful procedure when it became clear that he was headed falling a spiral with his skin!

So, to what extent will our celebrities go to make their statements?

Body works Some tattoo lovers have transformed their entire bodies into pointed hollows of ink, with a huge portion committed to various forms of the art, covering fields as varied as fire breathing dragons, serpents, angels, demons, daggers, buxomed females and portraits of their heroes.

Take Lil Wayne as an example. The Romans used it to idolise their gods.

Tattooing as a form of expression is said to have been around for close to 5,000 years.

Our celebs have embraced the art to their 'effect' change, and ever since CMB Prezzo appeared on the scene spotting his father image on his arm, they have been coming on fast and furious. Soon it spread across mainstream entertainment and now, many celebrities worth the hype are trying out one as soon as fame comes calling. Tattoos gained notoriety as an entertainment accessory in the early 1950s with the emergence of rock.

According to rapper Prezzo, his tattoos help to connect with the inner being and to those they honour.
