Eriez Introduces New PolyMag XRD X-Ray Visible Plastic Additives

Eriez has introduced new PolyMag XRD Plastic Additives that impart a advanced level of x-ray contrast into plastic moldings to safeguard consumers against plastic contaminated food products and protect brand reputation. "Major restaurant chains and food producers are insisting that plastic and rubber pieces which will contact food products during processing be metal or x-ray detectable," explained John Collins, Manager-Plastics and PolyMag Processing. " Collins explains that PolyMag XRD Additives offer a higher level of x-ray contrast than Eriez' PolyMag Metal Detectable Additives. "PolyMag XRD Additives are the perfect choice for customers utilizing sophisticated x-ray inspection systems," said Collins. The pellet's co-polymer carrier resin is compatible with a range of polymers including Polyethylene, Polypropylene, TPE and TPU resins. "New PolyMag XRD Additives help ensure food products containing broken pieces of plastic or rubber never reach consumers. The FDA-compliant additives are available in beige colored pellets with high x-ray contrast properties. Detectable plastics are most often pigmented blue, which can be accomplished when using the PolyMag XRD or the traditional Gray PolyMag Metal Detectable Additives. The PolyMag XRD master batch imparts x-ray contrast into food contact plastic articles such as tote bins, paddles, pails, pallets, scoops, scrapper blades, shovels, conveyor buckets and chains, belting, gaskets, grommets, O-rings, and more. Typically, the PolyMag XRD Additive is included at 10- to 20-percent loadings by the molder.
