Columbia, MO — Mina M. Mina had a rich enthusiasm for story-telling. Growing up in Kansas provided her with a plethora of material: paying a quarter and getting her driver's license at age 14, figuring the surface area of a circus tent for geometry class, and the first time she drove up a hill, were just a few of her many memories she shared with family and friends. She is preceded in death by spouses, parents, her only sister, and one grandchild. The family wishes to thank all her good friends throughout the years, all of the neighbors who have helped, and all her employers who have been so kind. She was born in Newton, KS, to Jessie E. , on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. Mina was an active woman and involved in her community. Post retirement, she volunteered for eight years at Columbia Area Senior Center as treasurer and bookkeeper. Mina worked as an accountant and bookkeeper all her life for corporations in Newton and Wichita, KS, and Moberly and Columbia, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a. She was a member of Missouri United Methodist Church, VFW Post 280, a life member of the VFW Auxilliary and an officer for 10 years. Mina also had dozens of cousins across the United States. She is survived by two daughters, Frances Anderson Furlong (Jim) of Gladstone, MO, and Marilyn Meals (Mark Bennett) of Fair Grove, MO; her grandchildren, Douglas Furlong and (Elvie) of San Diego, CA, Carol Furlong and Brad Furlong of Kansas City, MO, Sam Bennett (Lora) of Fair Grove, MO and Kate Bennett of Springfield,MO; and perhaps step great-grandchildren and foster great-grandchildren. |
