MAGHERAFELT District Council was forced to call the help of a local tree surgeon recently to remove a number of 'dangerous' storm damaged trees on council property. Storm damage was also reported to have blown off a number of tiles from roofs at Cahore Road and Boyne Row changing rooms and two large roller shutter doors were blown in at the recycling centre in Magherafelt. A workshop roof was also damaged at private property adjacent to Meadowbank old pavilion when a large fir tree split and collapsed on top of the property. A number of trees were blown over at Polepatrick Park during the bad weather, but were "cut up and removed" by council employees according to a Operations report presented to representatives last month. "Temporary measures were put in place by depot staff to allow safe employee and vehicle access to the building until a specialist contractor was available to fix the doors," stated the report. |
